The Perfect Atlanta Beltline Brunch: Azara to Sargent

There are brunch days where you make a reservation, eat, and go home. And then there are brunch days where one meal turns into drinks and dessert, and then suddenly you’ve spent half the afternoon on the Atlanta Beltline. This is the second kind.

If you’re looking for an easy way to make a whole day out of brunch, I recently found a two-stop combination that requires barely any walking and absolutely no reason to rush.

Your first stop is at Azara.

The menu at Azara is on the smaller side, but everything we tried was delicious! The portions were surprisingly generous and the prices felt very reasonable — which isn't always a combination you find at brunch.

The Food

The avocado toast immediately won me over by adding burrata, which is a genius move I somehow haven’t seen more often. The creamy burrata paired perfectly with the crunch of toasted chickpeas, and the whole thing came piled with fresh greens.

The shrimp and brown butter grits were another standout. The shrimp were massive, and the brown butter wasn’t just there in the name. So good.

And then there was the crab cake benedict, which swapped the traditional poached egg for a fried one. It was a small twist that made the dish feel a little different while still delivering the most important part of any benedict: that perfectly runny yolk.

The Vibes

Azara feels like someone brought the outdoors inside. Plants fill the space, green tones carry throughout the restaurant, and huge windows across the front let in tons of light.

Those windows also happen to look directly onto the Atlanta Beltline, which means you can settle into brunch while keeping an eye on all the action outside.

Your second stop is Sargent.

Once brunch is over, the next stop couldn’t be easier. Walk across the Beltline to Sargent, the new restaurant and bookstore from the team behind Lucian Books and Wine.

The two spots pair well for more than just their proximity. Sargent carries over the same nature-inspired feel, with rich green tones and huge windows that fill the space with natural light. It feels like a natural continuation of brunch at Azara — just with cocktails, dessert, and a bookstore added to the equation.

The Drinks

My recommendation at the bar is the Tom Collins. It’s bright and refreshing (especially on a warm day!) but what I remember most is watching it being made.

The bartender noticed seeds in the lemon garnish, grabbed a pair of tweezers, and carefully removed them before placing the lemon in my drink. That level of attention pretty much sums up our experience at Sargent.

The Desserts

Pair that Tom Collins with the Lemon Tart. The citrusy cocktail and tart work ridiculously well together! But the sorbet trio was also delicious and everything that came across the bar looked picture perfect.

The Service

The service at Sargent deserves its own mention because it was genuinely one of the highlights of the visit.

The lemon-seed surgery wasn't some isolated moment. Everything felt thoughtful and precise without making the experience feel stuffy. The drinks looked beautiful, the dessert looked beautiful, and the whole experience felt polished from beginning to end.

Why stop there?

The best part about this itinerary is that it involves as little walking as you can possibly get away with while still claiming you spent the day on the Beltline.

But if you want to try a bigger crawl next time, join us for a Food & Street Art Tour. We’ll take you along the Atlanta Beltline to taste some of our other favorite spots while exploring the street art that makes the trail so much fun to walk.
