I am excited to share that we have added another tour on the Atlanta BeltLine!
This is a walking tour only (no restaurants on this one). We cover less than a mile, and it takes about an hour. Tours start July 29 and are on Thursdays at 7 p.m., when it is starting to cool off. This walking tour is great for first-time Atlanta visitors, or people who are pressed for time. It's also a fun activity for metro Atlanta residents with out-of-town guests. Or just a night out in Atlanta with your honey or friends.
We start at Ponce City Market, once a Sears Roebuck factory & store, converted to an enormous food hall with restaurants by James Beard Award-winning chefs. You will hear colorful stories about this site's past. Did you know that Babe Ruth once hit a home run in the baseball park across the street, and it got stuck in a giant magnolia tree in center field? While the baseball field is now a Whole Foods shopping center, the tree is still there.
We then head out to the Atlanta BeltLine, getting a history and overview of one of the largest urban redevelopment projects in the U.S. , and experiencing its local color. A former railroad, the Atlanta BeltLine is now one of Atlanta's most popular walking/biking trails.
Along the way, we discover Atlanta's famed street art scene and learn about the artists behind it. We explore the sculptures, murals and photo banners that make up Art on the Atlanta BeltLine, known as the South's largest temporary outdoor art exhibition.
I show you some hidden spots known only to locals and give you the insider's experience. I am also glad to share recommendations for some of Atlanta's best restaurants, on and off the BeltLine.
The Atlanta BeltLine is a place to see and be seen, and you might come across some musical performers or colorful characters. I can't promise anything, but TV Head Guy does make occasional appearances.
We end the tour at Inman Park, and you can walk back to Ponce City Market, rent a scooter or e-bike, dine at a restaurant, or keep exploring the trail on foot.
